Gangrenous cholecystitis is a serious complication of acute cholecystitis and is associated with increased morbidity and mortality rates. We report a case in which the diagnosis was suggested by ultrasound, but cholecystectomy delayed due to atypical clinical presentation and a false negative radionuclide biliary scan.

In 2019, COVID-19 began one of the greatest public health challenges in history, reaching pandemic status the following year. Systems capable of predicting individuals at higher risk of progressing to severe forms of the disease could optimize the allocation and direction of resources. In this work, we evaluated the performance of different Machine Learning algorithms when predicting clinical outcomes of patients hospitalized with COVID-19, using clinical data from hospital admission alone.

Background: Although schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are currently conceptualized as distinct disorders, the similarity in their symptoms often makes differential diagnosis difficult. This study aimed to identify similarities and differences in the symptoms of schizophrenia and ASD to establish a more useful and objective differential diagnostic method and to identify ASD traits in participants with schizophrenia.
Methods: A total of 40 participants with schizophrenia (13 females, mean age: 34 ± 11 years) and 50 participants with ASD (15 females, mean age: 34 ± 8 years) were evaluated using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) and other clinical measures.

Accurate diagnosis and assessment of breast cancer treatment responses are critical challenges in clinical practice, influencing patient treatment strategies and ultimately long-term prognosis. Currently, diagnosing breast cancer and evaluating the efficacy of neoadjuvant immunotherapy (NAIT) primarily rely on pathological identification of tumor cell morphology, count, and arrangement. However, when tumors are small, the tumors and tumor beds are difficult to detect; relying solely on tumor cell identification may lead to false negatives.

Background: Neurocognitive impairment, including minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) and overt hepatic encephalopathy, is one of the most common complications of all types of primary liver diseases, such as hepatitis B, biliary cholangitis, and autoimmune hepatitis. The EncephalApp Stroop test is a smartphone application-based test that is time-saving for MHE screening. However, neurocognitive impairment is different between alcoholic cirrhosis patients and nonalcoholic cirrhosis patients, so the cutoff value for MHE diagnosis might be inflated.
