Water infiltration into soil is important in geotechnical engineering. The classical Green-Ampt (GA) infiltration model is widely used in soil infiltration due to its physical significance, but it ignores the actual unsaturated layer in the infiltration process and has some deficiencies. Thus, the present study established a modified GA infiltration model (MLGA model) using Darcy's infiltration law and continuity equation to fully consider the variation characteristics of the soil water profile in the infiltration process.

A case report of entrapment of PentaRay catheter in the mechanical mitral valve: a known complication experienced anew.

Eur Heart J Case Rep

May 2024

Department of Cardiology, Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, No. 106 Zhongshan 2nd Road, Yuexiu District, 510000 Guangzhou, China.

Background: Complex atrial tachycardia (AT) is commonly observed in patients with cardiac surgery. High-density mapping is widely adopted for catheter ablation of complex AT in patients with cardiac surgery. Several case reports have described that PentaRay mapping catheter can be trapped in the mechanical valve and sheared off and successful retrieval of the spline by a snare system.

Cesarean scar pregnancy: a practical overview and our series of combined double step procedure management.

Minerva Obstet Gynecol

October 2024

Department of Biomedical Sciences and Human Oncology, Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Polyclinic Hospital of Bari, University of Bari, Bari, Italy.

Article Synopsis
  • Cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) is a rare but serious condition that requires different treatment approaches depending on its subtype, yet there’s no universal consensus on the best management strategies.
  • A case series focused on a combined treatment using methotrexate (MTX) followed by vacuum aspiration or resectoscopy was conducted on 11 patients, with selection based on CSP type and myometrial thickness.
  • Results showed that MTX followed by suction curettage was more effective than other methods, leading to significant decreases in hCG levels and better outcomes, especially for deeply embedded cases.

Background: The very-low-voltage (VLV) mode in electrosurgery can stably and deeply energize tissues even if the local electrical resistance changes with energization. Therefore, in electrosurgical hemostasis, the VLV mode is more reliable than other coagulation modes. In clinical practice, the appropriate use of combined saline drip and blood suction under the VLV mode can further enhance coagulation ability.
