Addition of 1.0 equiv of Ph3SiH to [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(Me)(CH2Cl2)]+BAr'4- (1) resulted in release of methane and quantitative formation of [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(SiPh3)(CH2Cl2)]+BAr'4- (2). Subsequent addition of 1.0 equiv of MeCN to 2 caused immediate displacement of dichloromethane to form the eta1-nitrile adduct [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(SiPh3)(NCMe)]+BAr'4- (3). Upon standing at room-temperature overnight, complex 3 converted quantitatively to another product which has been characterized as the C-C activation product, [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(Me)(CNSiPh3)]+BAr'4- (5). Addition of other nitrile substrates (R-CN, R = Ph, (4-CF3)Ph, (4-MeO)Ph, iPr, tBu) to 2 also resulted in C-C activation of the R-CN bond to form [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(R)(CNSiPh3)]+BAr'4-. Evidence for an eta2-iminoacyl intermediate complex, [Cp*(PMe3)Rh(eta2-C(R)=N(SiPh3)]+BAr'4-, is also presented.

Deep Electronic State Regulation through Unidirectional Cascade Electron Transfer Induced by Dual Junction Boosting Electrocatalysis Performance.

Unidirectional cascade electron transfer induced by multi-junctions is essential for deep electronic state regulation of the catalytic active sites, while this advanced concept has rarely been investigated in the field of electrocatalysis. In the present work, a dual junction heterostructure (FePc/L-R/CN) is designed by anchoring iron phthalocyanine (FePc)/MXene (L-Ti C -R, R═OH or F) heterojunction on g-C N nanosheet substrates for electrocatalysis. The unidirectional cascade electron transfer (g-C N → L-Ti C -R → FePc) induced by the dual junction of FePc/L-Ti C -R and L-Ti C -R/g-C N makes the Fe center electron-rich and therefore facilitates the adsorption of O in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR).

Metallodithiolene complexes of the type [(RCS)M(η-tpbz)] [R = CN, Ph, or -anisyl; M = Ni, Pd, or Pt; tpbz = 1,2,4,5-tetrakis(diphenylphosphino)benzene] chelate transition metals ions to form trimetallic arrays [[(RCS)M(tpbz)]M'], where M' is square planar Pt, tetrahedral Cu, Ag, or Au, or octahedral {ReBr(CO)}/{Re(CO)}. Forcing conditions (190 °C reflux in decalin, 72 h) are demanded for the Re compounds. With third-row metals at the nexus, the compounds are stable to air.

Active site hydrogen-bond (H-bond) networks represent a key component by which metalloenzymes control the formation and deployment of high-valent transition metal-oxo intermediates. We report a series of dinuclear cobalt complexes that serve as structural models for the nonheme diiron enzyme family and feature a Co(μ-OH) diamond core stabilized by intramolecular H-bond interactions. We define the conditions required for the kinetically controlled synthesis of these complexes: [Co(μ-OH)(μ-OAc)(κ-OAc)(py)][PF] (), where OAc = acetate and py = pyridine with -substituent R, and we describe a homologous series of in which the -R substituent on pyridine is modulated.

Anticancer Diiron Vinyliminium Complexes: A Structure-Activity Relationship Study.

Pharmaceutics

July 2021

Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry, University of Pisa, Via G. Moruzzi 13, I-56124 Pisa, Italy.

A series of 16 novel diiron complexes of general formula [FeCp(CO)(μ-CO){μ-η:η-C(R')C(R″)CN(R)(Y)}]CFSO (), bearing different substituents on the bridging vinyliminium ligand, was synthesized in 69-95% yields from the reactions of diiron μ-aminocarbyne precursors with various alkynes. The products were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, H and C NMR spectroscopy; moreover the X-ray structures of (R = Y = CHPh, R' = R″ = Me) and (R = CHCH=CH, Y = R' = Me, R″ = H) were ascertained by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. NMR and UV-Vis methods were used to assess the DO solubility, the stability in aqueous solution at 37 °C and the octanol-water partition coefficients of the complexes.

Spin-crossover (SCO) active transition metal complexes are a class of switchable molecular materials. Such complexes undergo hysteretic high-spin (HS) to low-spin (LS) transition, and vice versa, rendering them suitable for the development of molecule-based switching and memory elements. Therefore, the search for SCO complexes undergoing abrupt and hysteretic SCO, that is, bistable SCO, is actively carried out by the molecular magnetism community.
