This review will highlight recent advances in the field of penile reconstructive surgery in the paediatric and adult population. It is based on the work published during the year 2001. Besides the anatomical and histological studies of the penis, major contributions have been described in congenital and acquired penile anomalies. Also, a few new techniques and modifications of old procedures are described in order to improve the final functional and aesthetic outcome. The techniques for penile enlargement present a trend in the new millennium, but are still at the stage of investigation.

Background: Penile cancer is a rare malignancy treated via various surgical techniques guided by disease stage and grade with current guidelines suggesting partial or total penectomy for those with pT2 or greater. We report a case of a patient with pT2 squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the penis who underwent circumcision with left partial-glansectomy and resection of preputial mass with good oncological control while providing good urinary and sexual function.
Case Description: An 82-year-old male presented to the clinic due to a mass that doubled in size in an 8-month timeframe.

A rare case of Fournier's gangrene (FG) secondary to varicella-zoster virus (VZV) affecting the penis and scrotum of a 7-year-old boy is presented. To the authors' knowledge, there are four cases of FG in children as a result of VZV reported to date. Our patient underwent a total of four surgical debridements and was reconstructed using a split-thickness skin graft (SSG).
