Purpose: To discuss the label, definition, defining characteristics, and related factors of a proposed nursing diagnosis, "ineffective family participation in professional care."
Data Sources: Published research articles, clinical handbooks, textbooks.
Data Synthesis: Although a number of family-related nursing diagnoses exist, none really addresses the problems encountered if family members are unwilling or unable to participate in patient care. This is critical because the bulk of care occurs outside the hospital setting.
Conclusions: A new nursing diagnosis, "Ineffective family participation in professional care" is needed. This diagnosis has been submitted to the Nursing Diagnosis Extension and Classification for consideration.
Practice Implications: With this diagnosis nurses could encourage family participation in care more effectively by focusing on assessment and interventions.

Cognitive control deficits and increased intra-subject variability have been well established as core characteristics of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and there is a growing interest in their expression at the neural level. We aimed to study neural variability in ADHD, as reflected in theta inter-trial phase coherence (ITC) during error processing, a process that involves cognitive control. We examined both traditional event-related potential (ERP) measures of error processing (i.

Background: Inadequate glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a major public health problem and a significant risk factor for the progression of diabetic complications.
Aim: To evaluate the effects of intensive and supportive glycemic management strategies over a 12-month period in individuals with T2DM with glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) ≥ 10% and varying backgrounds of glycemic control.
Methods: This prospective observational study investigated glycemic control in patients with poorly controlled T2DM over 12 months.

The retromer is a highly conserved eukaryotic complex formed by the cargo selective complex (CSC) and the sorting nexin (SNX) dimer subcomplexes. Its function is protein recycling and recovery from the endosomes to conduct the target molecules to the trans-Golgi network or the plasma membrane. The protozoan responsible for human amoebiasis, , exhibits an active membrane movement and voracious phagocytosis, events in which the retromer may be fully involved.

Background: Atrial septal defects (ASDs) are a common cause of congenital heart disease worldwide.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to assess change over time in surgical outcomes for ASD repair and identify patient-level risk factors for adverse postoperative outcomes.
Methods: We analyzed cases of isolated ASD in patients <18 years from 2010 to 2020 from 71 sites participating in the International Quality Improvement Collaborative for Congenital Heart Disease.
