The combination of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt surgery presents unique challenges in managing shunt-related infections. Although the association between PEG and ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery is well documented, studies on the combination of PEG and lumboperitoneal (LP) shunt surgeries are limited. We report the case of a 70-year-old man who developed hydrocephalus after decompressive craniectomy for ischemic stroke.

Background: When using a classic lumboperitoneal shunt, laparotomy is inevitable for peritoneal catheter implantation, which is time consuming and difficult for unskilled neurosurgeons. A minimally invasive technique of percutaneous abdominal puncture for catheterization with the assistance of guidewire is introduced in this paper.

Methods: Ten patients with communicating hydrocephalus received a lumboperitoneal shunt through percutaneous abdominal puncture for catheterization.

Background: Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a common neurodegenerative syndrome among the elderly characterized by ventriculomegaly and the classic triad of symmetric gait disturbance, cognitive decline and urinary incontinence. To date, the only effective treatment is a cerebrospinal fluid shunting procedure that can either be ventriculo-atrial, ventriculo-peritoneal, or lumbo-peritoneal shunt. The conventional ventriculo-atrial shunt uses venodissection, whereas the peel-away is a percutaneous ultrasound (US)-guided technique that shows some advantages over conventional technique.

Objective: We report a patient with intracranial hypertension associated with venous sinus stenosis due to tumor compression. Embolization of tumor feeding blood vessels reduced the tumor volume, improved venous sinus stenosis, and alleviated the symptoms of intracranial hypertension.

Case Presentation: The patient was a 46-year-old woman with chronic headache and blurred vision.

Background: Giant Tarlov cysts are always symptomatic and mimic many serious pathologic entities. We present the largest, to our knowledge, reported Tarlov cyst.

Case Description: A 33-year-old woman with Marfan syndrome suffered from right kidney hydronephrosis because of ureter obstruction, for which she was treated with nephrostomy.
