In 2025, it will be 30 years since the initial clinical approval of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) by the Food and Drug Administration. PLD predated the field of nanomedicine and became a model nanomedicine setting key pharmacological principles (prolonged circulation, slow drug release and the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect) for clinical application of other nano-drugs in cancer therapy. The impressive reduction of cardiotoxicity conferred by PLD is the most valuable clinical asset.

Pyomelanogenic P. aeruginosa, frequently isolated from patients with urinary tract infections and cystic fibrosis, possesses the ability to withstand oxidative stress, contributing to virulence and resulting in persistent infections. Whole genome sequence analysis of U804, a pyomelanogenic, multidrug-resistant, clinical isolate, demonstrates the mechanism underlying pyomelanin overproduction.

Polyimide (PI)-based gas separation membranes are of great interest in the field of H purification owing to their good thermal stability, chemical stability, and mechanical properties. Among polyimide-based membranes, intrinsically microporous polyimides are easily soluble in common organic solvents, showing great potential for fabricating hollow fiber gas separation membranes. However, based on the solution-diffusion model, improving the free volume or the movability of polymer chains can improve gas permeability, but would result in poor thermal stability.

measurement and mapping of oxygen levels within the tissues are crucial in understanding the physiopathological processes of numerous diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, or peripheral vascular diseases. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) associated with biocompatible exogenous spin probes, such as Ox071 triarylmethyl (TAM) radical, is becoming the new gold standard for oxygen mapping in preclinical settings. However, these probes do not show tissue selectivity when injected systemically, and they are not cell permeable, reporting oxygen from the extracellular compartment only.

The enduring pathogenicity of can be attributed to its lipid-rich cell wall, with mycolic acids (MAs) being a significant constituent. Different MAs' fluidity and structural adaptability within the bacterial cell envelope significantly influence their physicochemical properties, operational capabilities, and pathogenic potential. Therefore, an accurate conformational representation of various MAs in aqueous media can provide insights into their potential role within the intricate structure of the bacterial cell wall.
