Computational tools, particularly electromagnetic (EM) solvers, are now commonplace in antenna design. While ensuring reliability, EM simulations are time-consuming, leading to high costs associated with EM-driven procedures like parametric optimization or statistical design. Various techniques have been developed to address this issue, with surrogate modeling methods garnering particular attention due to their potential advantages.

Data-driven modeling of background radiation structure utilizing matrix profile in nuclear security.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, 78249, USA.

The inherently stochastic nature of radiation emissions makes modeling background radiation structure a particularly challenging research area. In source identification scenarios, which are critical to nuclear security, the complexity of background radiation modeling is intensified by dynamically changing factors that influence radiation measurements. Consequently, accurately modeling and estimating background radiation can significantly improve our nuclear security capabilities by enhancing the detection of anomalies within radiation data.

Extraction, Isolation, and Structural Elucidation of Acylated Triterpene Saponins from Asteraceae Family.

Methods Mol Biol

January 2025

College of Pharmacy, Yonsei Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Yonsei University, Incheon, Republic of Korea.

Saponins represent specialized (secondary) metabolites primarily sourced from plants, typically characterized by an aglycone component of triterpenoids or steroids, often referred to as sapogenin, coupled with sugar moieties. Their structural intricacy and diversity, along with their manifold pharmacological properties, have garnered significant interest among researchers. Notwithstanding this interest, the study of saponins has been encumbered by challenges in their isolation, purification, and structural characterization.

LARGE SCALE ENERGY DECOMPOSITION FOR THE ANALYSIS OF PROTEIN STABILITY.

Cell Stress Chaperones

January 2025

Dipartimento di Chimica, Università di Pavia, Via Taramelli 12, 27100 Pavia, Italy. Electronic address:

To carry out their functions in cells, proteins are required to fold into well-defined three-dimensional conformations. The stability of the folded state dictates several aspects of protein life, such as their evolution, interactions, and selection of structures that are ultimately linked to activity. Sequence mutations may change the stability profile and consequently impact structure and function.

Planar 1D photonic crystals (1DPhCs), owing to their photonic bandgaps (PBGs) formed by unique structural interference, are widely utilized in light protection applications. Multifunctional coatings that integrate various light management functions are highly desired. In this study, we present the fabrication of dual-PBG 1DPhCs with high reflectance in both the blue and near-infrared (NIR) regions.
