Department of Geriatrics, The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, No.1 Youyi Road, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, 400016, China.
Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) β2-microglobulin (β2M) has been demonstrated as an important factor in β-amyloid (Aβ) neurotoxicity and a potential target for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, more investigation is required to ascertain the relationship between β2M and glial activities in AD pathogenesis.
Methods: In this study, 211 participants from the Alzheimer's disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) with CSF and Plasma β2M, CSF glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (sTREM2), Aβ, phosphorylated-tau (P-tau) and total tau (T-tau) were divided into four groups, stage 0, 1, 2, and suspected non-AD pathology (SNAP) based on the National Institute on Aging- Alzheimer's Association (NIA-AA) criteria.

While police have previously used public genealogy databases for this purpose, our article describes how they are now secretly accessing genetic information from newborn screening programs and medical tests. This raises ethical and legal concerns, blurring the line between health care and law enforcement.

Introduction: The clinical benefits of fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI) have been demonstrated in clinical trials. There is limited evidence regarding the effectiveness and economic outcomes associated with FF/UMEC/VI use in US clinical practice. This real-world study assessed asthma-related exacerbations, healthcare resource utilization (HRU), and healthcare costs among a Medicare Advantage-insured population before and after initiation of FF/UMEC/VI in patients with asthma previously treated with an inhaled corticosteroid/long-acting β-agonist (ICS/LABA).

Background: Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS)/critical care ultrasound (CCU) use in medical and surgical intensive care units has surged over the last few decades. It is unclear if this has similarly translated in neurocritical care (NCC) units. We designed a survey to describe the current state of POCUS/CCU use and training among NCC providers.
