Background: Right ventricular (RV) failure is a well-recognized pivotal prognostic factor of adverse outcomes in pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH), while RV dilation provides significant implications for adaptive or maladaptive changes. PAH is a predominant cause of mortality among patients with connective tissue disease (CTD). This study aims to elucidate the prognostic significance of RV morphology, as assessed by echocardiography (ECHO), in with CTD associated with PAH (CTD-PAH).

Thus, domesticated individuals escaping into wild populations is a key conservation concern. In Prince William Sound, Alaska, over 700 million pink salmon () are released annually from hatcheries, providing a natural experiment to characterize the mechanisms underlying impacts to wild populations.

Background: Neuropathic pain resulting from spinal cord injury (SCI) is associated with persistent hyperactivity of primary nociceptors. Anandamide (AEA) has been reported to modulate neuronal excitability and synaptic transmission through activation of cannabinoid type-1 receptors (CB1Rs) and transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1). However, the role of AEA and these receptors in the hyperactivity of nociceptors after SCI remains unclear.

Background: Previous studies demonstrated that task-specific stress appraisals as well as the more general belief that stress is (mal)adaptive (i.e., stress mindset) can affect the stress response.

The neural extracellular matrix (ECM) accumulates in the form of perineuronal nets (PNNs), particularly around fast-spiking GABAergic interneurons in the cortex and hippocampus, but also around synapses and in association with the axon initial segments (AIS) and nodes of Ranvier. Increasing evidence highlights the role of Neurocan (Ncan), a brain-specific component of ECM, in the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Ncan localizes at PNNs, perisynaptically, and at the nodes of Ranvier and the AIS, highlighting its potential role in regulating axonal excitability.
