Objective: To describe the cases of oral and maxillofacial tumors (OMFT) resection and defects reconstruction under submandibular intubation (SMI) performed in our institution; secondly, to systematically review and analyze the characteristics of studies about SMI in oral and maxillofacial surgery to estimate the incidence rate of complication.
Method: Data related to all 6 patients included in this study were prospectively collected from November 2016 to November 2023. The tract for endotracheal tube was created by bluntly dissection from the submandibular area to the floor of mouth.

Purpose: Research has shown that prolonged endotracheal intubation can increase risk of aspiration following extubation. This study examined the relationship between swallowing and intubation among patients with COVID-19. We investigated the association between the duration of intubation and time until an oral diet was safely initiated and the correlation between the length of intubation and reduced sensation with aspiration as seen on flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES)/videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS).

Background: Infection prevention and control (IPC) practices by critical care nurses are crucial in preventing ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and central-line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI).
Aim: To implement an integrative approach to developing a set of IPC practices and disseminating information on the IPC practices through an educational multimedia tool to improve compliance with the practices.
Methods: This participatory interventional before-after study was conducted in a single tertiary care centre's cardiac surgical intensive care unit (ICU) from May 2022 to March 2023.

Background And Aims: An exaggerated hemodynamic response to endotracheal intubation is observed in hypertensive patients, and its attenuation proves challenging. The role of oral ivabradine, a unique heart rate-lowering drug with a favorable hemodynamic profile, is not yet studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of oral ivabradine on the attenuation of hemodynamic response to endotracheal intubation in hypertensive surgical patients assessed by rate pressure product (RPP), which is a very reliable indicator of myocardial oxygen demand.

This study aimed to determine the incidence of traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) during oral tracheal intubation by traditional laryngoscopy in general anesthesia (GA) in pediatric patients aged 4-13 and the correlated risk factors in Damascus, Syria. The study included children at the Department of General Surgery, Damascus University. Each child was examined before, during, and after 12-24 h of entering the operation room.
