Central venous catheters are used for the administration of fluids, drugs, blood products, total parenteral nutrition and for haemodynamic measurements. In patients with renal failure planned for dialysis, indwelling central venous catheters are used prior to forming an arterio-venous shunt. Infected right atrial thrombus is a rare phenomenon in adults and particularly unusual in patients undergoing dialysis. We describe two patients, undergoing dialysis for short periods, with indwelling central venous catheters and a right atrial mass, suspected for infected right atrial thrombus, detected by transoesophageal echocardiography.

The introduction of devices for endovascular dialysis access creation (WavelinQ and Ellipsys) offers practitioners more options for access management in dialysis patients. Especially in terms of reducing the usage of central venous catheters, a native fistula is desirable as an initial dialysis access. We present a case in which a failed WavelinQ type fistula was reactivated using the Ellipsys procedure on the same arm.

Methods: Between April 2022 and December 2023, 234 children with simple CHD who underwent CPB via a right-side small incision approach were separated into a control group (n = 93) without the use of a CO field-flooding device and a treatment group (n = 141) in which this device was added to the traditional surgical manual exhaust. Demographic, perioperative, arterial blood gas (ABG), and laboratory test data were then compared between these groups of patients.

Objectives: To determine the mortality-related risk factors for carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) infection in hospitalized patients and to compare the clinical efficacy of different antimicrobial regimen.
Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from a 3,500-bed regional medical center between January 2021 and June 2022. Mortality-related risk factors were analyzed by the Cox proportional regression model for multivariate analysis.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze microvascular reconstruction in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) in Europe.
Methods: Based on previous studies, a dynamic online questionnaire was developed and subjected to internal and external evaluation. The questionnaire comprised multiple-choice, rating, and open-ended questions, addressing general and specific aspects and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on microvascular reconstruction in OMFS in Europe.

Aims: Childhood cancer is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases in later life. Retinal examination allows to non-invasively observe the vasculature of an end-organ. We observe alterations in long-term childhood cancer survivors (CCS).
