A series of hydrazide hydrazones and 1,3,4-oxadiazolines of 4-fluorobenzoic acid hydrazide were prepared and evaluated as potential antimicrobial agents and were tested for their antibacterial and antifungal activities against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans. From these compounds, 4-fluorobenzoic acid[(5-nitro-2-furanyl)methylene]hydrazide (1a) showed equal activity with ceftriaxone against S. aureus. In addition, the MIC values of compounds 1c, 1d and 2a for the same strain were in the range of those reported for ceftriaxone according to NCCLS 1997.

Ferroelastic materials with high phase transition temperature have broad application prospects in information conversion and storage, shape memory, energy conversion, hyperelasticity, etc. However, most of the current reports focus on inorganic ferroelastic materials. Inorganic ferroelastic materials have the disadvantages of high energy consumption and harmful metals, which limit their application in practical work.

School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, Chuzhou University, Chuzhou, Anhui 239000, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study synthesized and characterized three different 1:1 cocrystal forms of etoricoxib, a pain-relief medication, with different benzoic acids: etoricoxib-benzoic acid, etoricoxib-4-fluorobenzoic acid, and etoricoxib-4-nitrobenzoic acid.
  • Techniques like single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, and thermal differential scanning calorimetry-thermogravimetry were employed to analyze these cocrystals and their unique properties.
  • The research revealed that the presence of the acid partners significantly affects the conformations of etoricoxib and that the stability of the cocrystals is linked

The construction of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with highly efficient capture for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) adsorption under humid conditions is a significant yet formidable task. Herein, series of fluorinated UiO-67 modified with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and 4-fluorobenzoic acid were successfully synthesized for VOCs adsorption under high humidity conditions. Experiments results showed that UiO-67 modified with 4-fluorobenzoic acid (67-F) presented excellent adsorption capacity of 345 mg/g for toluene adsorption and exhibited great water resistance (10.

Flupirtine and retigabine were essential drugs to combat pain and epilepsy. However, the K 7 potassium channel openers are fraught with hepatotoxicity and tissue discoloration, respectively, limiting their therapeutic value. Both adverse events are likely due to reactive metabolites arising from oxidative metabolism.

Photopolymerization-Driven Macroscopic Mechanical Motions of a Composite Film Containing a Vinyl Coordination Polymer.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Soochow University, Suzhou, 215123, Jiangsu, P. R. China.

We report a unique vinyl coordination polymer (CP), [Zn(4-Fb) (tkpvb)] (1, 4-HFb=4-fluorobenzoic acid, tkpvb=1,2,4,5-tetrakis(4-pyridylvinyl)benzene) that undergoes a rare photopolymerization reaction to form a two-dimensional CP integrated with a one-dimensional linear organic polymer. Upon light irradiation at different wavelengths, 1 exhibits an unprecedented phenomenon of photoinduced nonlinear lattice expansion. 1 can be uniformly dispersed in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to form the composite film of 1-PVA.
