A new organic dye, trans-4, 4'-bis(pyrrolidingl) stilbene (BPAS), with large two-photon absorption (TPA) and three-photon absorption (3PA) has been synthesized. The molecular TPA cross section sigma2' at 550-670 nm and the 3PA cross section sigma3' at 720-1000 nm have been measured. The biggest sigma2' and sigma3' was 5.77 x 10(-47) cm4s/photon and 27 x 10(-75) cm6 s2 at 600 and 980 nm, respectively. In the experiment process we found that the strongest TPA wavelength is not at two times of the strongest linear absorption wavelength, but there is some blue shift. The 3PA-induced optical power-limiting properties have also been illustrated at 980 nm.

In this study, we investigate an epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) metamaterial composed of silver (Ag) and magnesium fluoride (MgF), which demonstrates a low conversion threshold, strong nonlinear response, and nonlinear absorption conversion. Particularly noteworthy is its highest nonlinear absorption (β≈-2 × 10cm/GW) occurring at the ENZ point (695 nm) under deposited condition.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTriarylboron compounds have been established as promising candidates in optoelectronic applications. However, realizing multi-functional properties in triaryl boron-based materials remains challenging. Herein, we present two regioisomers, 1 and 2, designed judiciously by connecting a dimethylamino donor and a dimesitylboryl acceptor at 1,4 and 2,6-positions of the naphthalene spacer, respectively.

This study investigates the coherent optical nonlinearity of two sets of anisotropic silver nanocrystals (NCs) showing plasmon peaks at 530 and 610 nm (hence named Ag-530 and Ag-610 NCs, respectively). The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of Ag-530 and Ag-610 NCs are compared with spherical silver NCs exhibiting plasmon peak at 420 nm (hence called Ag-420 NCs). Resonant excitation induces significant one-photon absorption (1PA) saturation for all NCs, with Ag-610 NCs displaying exceptional transparency.
