Osteoporosis is a systemic disease associated with reduced bone mass, impaired bone microarchitecture, and thus an increased risk of bone fractures. Moreover, patients with osteoporosis are more likely to experience periodontal diseases and tooth loss. Some indices have been proposed to detect osteoporosis on dental panoramic radiographs.

Visfatin, an adipokine secreted by various cell types, plays multifaceted pathophysiological roles in inflammatory conditions, including obesity, which is closely associated with osteoclastogenesis, a key process underlying bone loss and increased osteoporosis (OP) risk. However, the role of visfatin in osteoclastogenesis remains controversial. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of visfatin on receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-B ligand (RANKL)-induced osteoclast differentiation from precursor cells in vitro.

Objectives: This paper aims to review the immunopathogenesis of Diabetes-associated periodontitis (DPD) and to propose a description of the research progress of drugs with potential clinical value from an immunotherapeutic perspective.
Materials And Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus and the Cochrane Library. Inclusion criteria were studies on the association between diabetes and periodontitis using the Boolean operator "AND" for association between diabetes and periodontitis, with no time or language restrictions.

Objective: LepR-expressing cells (LepR cells), a critical subpopulation of mesenchymal stem cells, have gained increasing attention in the last decade. LepR cells have been found to play a crucial role in maintaining bone and periodontal homeostasis. This review summarizes current research advances focusing on the role of LepR cells and their underlying regulatory molecular mechanisms in bones and periodontium, aiming to provide a better understanding of the therapeutic potential of this cell lineage.

Oxidative stress (OS) inhibits the osteogenic differentiation of human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs). Equol (Eq), a phytoestrogen, exhibits notable antioxidant properties and potential for preventing osteoporosis. However, the research on the regulatory effects of Eq on stem cell osteogenesis remains limited.
