Clinical Significance of the Peripheral Blood Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio in Predicting Chemotherapy Outcomes for Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Cancer Manag Res

January 2025

Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Fuyang People's Hospital, Fuyang, 236000, People's Republic of China.

Objective: This study aims to assess the clinical significance of the peripheral blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in predicting chemotherapy outcomes for patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC).

Methods: A cohort of 44 patients diagnosed with SCLC between January 2021 to June 2022 at Fuyang People's Hospital was selected for analysis. All patients in this group received a first-line platinum-based doublet chemotherapy regimen.

Negative gas adsorption transitions and pressure amplification phenomena in porous frameworks.

Chem Soc Rev

January 2025

Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, TU Dresden, Bergstrasse 66, 01062 Dresden, Germany.

Nanoporous solids offer a wide range of functionalities for industrial, environmental, and energy applications. However, only a limited number of porous materials are responsive, the nanopore dynamically alters its size and shape in response to external stimuli such as temperature, pressure, light or the presence of specific molecular stimuli adsorbed inside the voids deforming the framework. Adsorption-induced structural deformation of porous solids can result in unique counterintuitive phenomena.

Background: Developing interventions along with the population of interest using systems thinking is a promising method to address the underlying system dynamics of overweight. The purpose of this study is twofold: to gain insight into the perspectives of adolescents regarding: (1) the system dynamics of energy balance-related behaviours (EBRBs) (physical activity, screen use, sleep behaviour and dietary behaviour); and (2) underlying mechanisms and overarching drivers of unhealthy EBRBs.

Methods: We conducted Participatory Action Research (PAR) to map the system dynamics of EBRBs together with adolescents aged 10-14 years old living in a lower socioeconomic, ethnically diverse neighbourhood in Amsterdam East, the Netherlands.
