Pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is emerging as a worldwide health concern with the potential to advance to cirrhosis and liver cancer. NAFLD can also directly contribute to heart problems through inflammation and insulin resistance, even in individuals without other risk factors. The pathological mechanisms of NAFLD are linked to functional differences of miRNAs in different biological environments.

Background: Nursing students are not consistently trained on how to care for patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. In rapid cycle deliberate practice (RCDP), learners perform a simulation with micro-debriefs interjected by the instructor.
Problem: RCDP has been used to train health care students on how to respond during a sudden cardiac arrest, but its application to prelicensure nursing students is underreported.

Background: Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) are essential for reducing sudden cardiac death in patients at risk of ventricular arrhythmias. The choice of ICD lead - single-coil or dual-coil - can influence device performance and patient outcomes. This meta-analysis evaluates the comparative efficacy and safety of single-coil versus dual-coil ICD leads to inform clinical decision-making.

Executive function (EF) impairments are prevalent in survivors of neonatal critical illness such as children born very preterm (VPT) or with complex congenital heart disease (cCHD). This paper aimed to describe EF profiles in school-aged children born VPT or with cCHD and in typically developing peers, to identify child-specific and family-environmental factors associated with these profiles and to explore links to everyday-life outcomes. Data from eight EF tests assessing working memory, inhibition, cognitive flexibility, switching, and planning in = 529 children aged between 7 and 16 years was subjected into a latent profile analysis.
