The epiphyseal hormone melatonin (0.1 mg/kg) does not influence the functional state of pyramidal neurons in the dorsal hippocamp of intact rats, but decreases the swimming-stress-induced activation of these neurons. Removal of the pineal gland increased the functional activity of neurons in the intact rats and potentiated the stress-induced histochemical and morphometric changes.

Background: Growing evidence indicates that disruptions in mitochondrial quality management contribute to the development of acute kidney injury (AKI), incomplete or maladaptive kidney repair, and chronic kidney disease. However, the temporal dynamics of mitochondrial quality control alterations in relation to renal injury and its recovery remain poorly understood and are addressed in this manuscript.

Method: ology: Male Wistar rats (n = 60) were subjected to varying durations of ischemia and reperfusion.

In middle-aged (MA) female rats, we have demonstrated that intrahypothalamic gene therapy for insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) extends the regular cyclicity of the animals beyond 10 months (the age at which MA rats stop ovulating). Here, we implemented long-term OSKM gene therapy in the hypothalamus of young female rats. The main goal was to extend fertility in the treated animals.

Prenatal hypoxia (PH) is a key factor in the development of long-term cardiovascular disorders, which are caused by various mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction (ED), including those associated with NO deficiency. This emphasizes the potential of therapeutic agents with NO modulator properties, such as Thiotriazoline, Angiolin, Mildronate, and L-arginine, in the treatment of PH. Pregnant female rats were given a daily intraperitoneal dose of 50 mg/kg of sodium nitrite starting on the 16th day of pregnancy.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) during pregnancy on mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) methylation in the brain tissues of rat offspring.

Materials And Methods: Sixteen SD rats were randomly divided into two groups: control group (CON) and SCH group. BS-seq sequencing was used to analyze mtDNA methylation levels in the offspring's brain tissues; the 2,7-dichlorofluorescin diacetate (DCFH-DA) probe method was employed to detect reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in brain tissues; electron microscopy was utilized to observe the mitochondrial structure in the hippocampal tissues of the offspring.
