Background: Evidence on associations between drug-drug interactions (DDIs) and health outcomes in the older community-dwelling population is limited.
Objective: We estimate potentially clinically important DDI prevalence and examine the association between DDIs and (1) adverse drug events (ADEs), (2) emergency hospital attendance and (3) health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in an older community-dwelling population in Ireland.
Methods: This is a prospective cohort study of community-dwelling older adults (N = 904) aged ≥ 70 years from 15 general practices in Ireland recruited in 2010 (wave-1) and followed-up over 2 years (wave-2; 2012-2013), with linked national pharmacy claims data.

Background: The increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance in cases of () infection has emerged as a significant global issue. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the alterations in drug resistance exhibited by in the Nanjing region of China during the preceding five years. Another important objective is to investigate the influence of levofloxacin medication history on genotypic and phenotypic resistance.

Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a granulomatous small-vessel vasculitis. Asthma is seen in the majority of patients with CSS, but atypical nonasthmatic forms of CSS are also being recognized. We herein describe a 67-year-old woman with a history of chronic pyelonephritis and drug allergy reactions who was admitted to our hospital because of worsening renal function preceded by fever, purpura, sinusitis, and a positive urine culture that confirmed a urinary infection.

Primary care physicians frequently prescribe antibiotics for acutely ill children, even though they usually have self-limiting diseases of viral etiology. The aim of this research was to evaluate the routine antibiotic-prescribing habits of primary care in Latvia, in response to children presenting with infections. This cross-sectional study included acutely ill children who consulted eighty family physicians (FP) in Latvia, between November 2019 and May 2020.

Clostridioides difficile is a Gram positive spore-forming rod and mainly responsible for nosocomial diarrhea in developed nations. Molecular and antimicrobial surveillance is important for monitoring the strain composition including genotypes of high epidemiological importance such as ribotype 027 (RT027) and corresponding resistance patterns. 1535 isolates obtained from samples sent between 2014 and 2019 to the German National Reference Center (NRC) for diagnostic reasons (NRC strain set), and 1143 isolates from a Tertiary Care University Center in Saarland, Germany (non-NRC strain set), were evaluated using antibiotic susceptibility testing and ribotyping.
