Sophora alkaloids, including matrine, oxymatrine, and sophoridine, are quinolizidines found in plants used in traditional Chinese medicine such as Sophora flavescens and Sophora tonkinensis. Reports on acute Sophora alkaloid poisoning in humans outside of mainland China are lacking. This study aimed to characterize the clinical presentations, management, and outcomes of acute poisoning involving Sophora alkaloids in Hong Kong.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of thyme oil (TO), chitosan nanoparticles (CS-NPs), and TO-loaded-CS-NPs on controlling Salmonella Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) infection in broiler chickens when compared to ciprofloxacin (Cip) antibiotic treatment. The CS-NPs and TO-loaded-CS-NPs were initially characterized using a transmission electron microscope.

Cases of antibiotic-resistant () infections are becoming increasingly frequent and represent a major threat to our ability to treat cancer patients. The emergence of antimicrobial resistance threatens the treatment of infections. In this study, the antimicrobial profiles, virulent genes, and the frequency of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) gene carriage in fecal isolates from cancer patients at the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala (Cameroon) were determined.

Introduction: is a formidable pathogen that poses a significant threat to immunocompromised and might cause rare atypical forms of the disease especially complicated with coinfection.
Case: We present a case of a patient with meningoencephalitis, endocarditis, sepsis, and osteomyelitis, highlighting the complexities of managing disseminated polymicrobial infection. Introduction: The intensification of tilapia production has increased animal density in tanks, leading to more frequent exposure to pathogenic agents and compromising the quality of fish products. Antimicrobial resistance is a global concern that affects human treatment, and sentinel microorganisms like are crucial for monitoring production chains, especially in aquaculture, where research is still limited. The aim of this study was to identify the presence of and investigate its antimicrobial resistance profiles throughout the entire tilapia production chain.
