Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have emerged as a silent menace, infiltrating groundwater systems worldwide. Many countries, preoccupied with tackling legacy pollutants, have inadvertently neglected the emerging threat of PFAS. This review provides an exhaustive analysis beyond the current state of knowledge and sustainable pathways vis-a-vis addressing PFAS in groundwater systems globally.

Background: The Genome Center for Alzheimer's Disease (GCAD) coordinates the integration and meta-analysis of all available Alzheimer's disease (AD) relevant whole genome sequencing (WGS) data to facilitate the goal of identifying AD risk or protective genetic variants and eventual therapeutic targets. The WGS datasets are generated via the collaboration of scientists from the Alzheimer's Disease Sequencing Project (ADSP) and GCAD. To minimize data heterogeneity introduced by different sequencing protocols and machines, GCAD processes all samples using identical pipelines.

Background: Gaining insight into the emotional consequences of disclosing amyloid Positron Emission Tomography (PET) results is essential for offering effective support to patients of varying cognitive status. This analysis aimed to examine variations in emotional distress levels following the disclosure of amyloid PET results among participants that are cognitively normal, with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), or dementia.
Method: This investigation was a preliminary analysis of 55 participants, using 1-month follow-up call data of an ongoing brain imaging data repository study, obtaining baseline PET imaging on a subset of Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) participants.

High mortality and low response rates in lung cancer patients call for novel therapeutic targets. Data mining of whole-genome genetic dependency screens suggest Cell Division Cycle 40 (CDC40) to be an essential protein for lung cancer cell survival. We characterized CDC40 knockdown effects in multiple lung cancer cell lines, revealing induced cell cycle defects that resulted in strong growth inhibition and activation of apoptosis.
