Alterations in airway wall anatomic properties and the consequential effects on airway narrowing have been assessed by use of computational models. In these models, it is generally assumed that at zero transmural pressure the airway wall exists in a zero-stress state. Many studies have shown that this is often not the case, as evidenced by a nonzero opening angle. In this study, we measured the opening angle of airway rings at zero transmural pressure to test this assumption. The airway tree was dissected from human, pig, sheep, and rabbit lungs. Airways were excised from the tree, and the opening angle was measured. There were obvious species and regional differences in opening angle. Rabbit airways from both extraparenchymal and intraparenchymal sites exhibited marked opening angles (7-82 degrees). Extraparenchymal airways from sheep had large opening angles (up to 50 degrees), but ovine intraparenchymal airways had small opening angles. Measurable opening angles were rarely observed in human and porcine airways of any size. The assumption of a stable zero-stress state at zero transmural pressure is therefore valid for human and porcine, but not rabbit and sheep, airways.

Objective: The aim of this study was to perform a comparative pre-clinical evaluation of a new fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair dedicated stent using perfused 3D printed patient anatomies.
Methods: The test setup included a pulsatile pump set to reproduce human haemodynamics, four 3D printed pararenal aneurysms connected to a bench test, and four corresponding fenestrated grafts (Zenith Fenestrated; Cook, Bloomington, IN, USA). Bridging stents were sized based on analysis of patients computed tomography scans and included either four standard covered stents (BeGraft [BG]; Bentley, Hechingen, Germany) or four similar covered stent grafts mounted on a modified balloon to allow stent implantation and flaring in one step (BeFlared [BF]; Bentley).

Wind turbine control is critical in power generation from wind, thus assuring great efficiency and cost-effectiveness. This has been a subject of intense research, and its advancements are critical to developing even better and efficient wind turbines. This research looks at several passive flow control mechanisms for horizontal wind turbines.

Background: A larger joint line convergence angle (JLCA) increases the stress load on the medial compartment. Few reports, however, have discussed the effect of the JLCA on the cartilage status and clinical outcomes after opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO).
Purpose/hypothesis: To reveal the effect of the JLCA on clinical results after OWHTO.
This study experimentally demonstrates metasurfaces capable of producing output emissions with deflection angles greater than 75 degrees. These metasurfaces are composed of high-aspect-ratio gallium arsenide (GaAs) nano-resonators on double-sided polished GaAs substrates, operating reflectively at a wavelength of 650 nm. Beyond deflecting the incident light beam, the metasurfaces are successfully shown to generate high-deflection-angle, doughnut-shaped emissions by incorporating vortex beam (VB) structured light with a topological charge of up to 8.

Prcis: The discriminant function of glaucoma, obtained by the Laguna ONhE colorimetric program, significantly correlates with the BMO-MRW. Furthermore, the diagnostic capacity was inferior to other structural tests in POAG patients.
Purpose: To evaluate the diagnostic capability for glaucoma and the correlation between peripapillary and macular parameters using spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and optic nerve head hemoglobin (OHN Hb) levels assessed by the Laguna ONhE® software using colorimetric analysis.
