Identities of functional pSer/Thr.Pro protein substrates of the PIN1 prolyl isomerase and its effects on downstream signaling in bladder carcinogenesis remain largely unknown. Phenotypically, we found that PIN1 positively regulated bladder cancer cell proliferation, cell motility and urothelium clearance capacity in vitro and controlled tumor growth and potential metastasis in vivo.

Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease and myocardial infarction. Precise and effective plaque targeting is a major objective for therapeutic outcomes throughout various stages of atherosclerosis. Inspired by the natural recruitment of neutrophils in atherosclerotic plaques, we fabricated a simvastatin (ST)-loaded and neutrophil membrane-cloaked nanoplatform (NNP) for enhancing localized payload delivery and atherosclerosis management.

In this study, untargeted Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) metabolomics was applied for the first time, to our knowledge, to assess the metabolic impact of direct and transgenerational exposure (F0 and F3 generations, respectively) of amphipods Gammarus locusta to simvastatin (SIM), a pharmaceutical widely prescribed for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia. Results revealed the important gender-dependent nature of each of these effects. Directly exposed males showed enhanced glucose catabolism and tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle activity, in tandem with adaptations in osmotic regulation and glyoxylate metabolism.

Dyslipidemia, a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), is marked by abnormal lipid levels, such as the elevated lowering of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C). Statins are the first-line treatment for LDL-C reduction. Pitavastatin (PIT) has shown potential in lowering LDL-C and improving high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C).
