Background: Accurate monitoring glucose level is significant for human health management, especially in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of diabetes. Electrochemical quantification of glucose is a convenient and rapid detection method, and the crucial aspect in achieving great sensing performance lies in the selection and design of the electrode material. Among them, CuO, with highly catalysis ability, is commonly used as electrocatalyst in non-enzymatic glucose sensing.

This perspective discusses that the essential micronutrient zinc has functions in over 3000 human proteins (the zinc proteome), and the implications of three aspects to ascertain an adequate zinc status for human health. First, the advent of highly sensitive fluorescent (bio)chemicals revealed cellular pools of zinc ions involved in signalling and secretion from cells for paracrine, autocrine, and possibly endocrine functions. Zinc signalling adds a yet unaccounted number of targeted proteins to the already impressive number of zinc proteins.

INPP5D has been identified as a risk gene for AD and is involved in the TREM2 signaling pathway, which is crucial for microglial activity. INPP5D encodes SHIP1, a protein phosphatase that disrupts TREM2 signaling by converting PIP3 into PIP2, thereby inhibiting the PI3K-mediated activation of Akt-dependent signaling, which is essential for the clearance of amyloid oligomers, fibrils, and plaques.

Background: Physical exercise is crucial in type 2 diabetes management (T2D), and training in the aquatic environment seems to be a promising alternative due to its physical properties and metabolic, functional, cardiovascular, and neuromuscular benefits. Research on combined training in aquatic and dry-land training environments is scarce, especially in long-term interventions. Thus, this study aims to investigate the effects of combined training in both environments on health outcomes related to the management of T2D patients.
