Introduction: TSH-receptor antibodies (TRAb) directed against the TSH receptor (TSH-R) induce hyperthyroidism in patients with Graves' disease (GD). TRAb detected by previous radioimmunoassay only reflects the presence of autoantibodies, but not the function of such antibodies.
