Background: Nasogastric tube (NGT) feeding under physical restraint is a clinical intervention that may be required when a child or young person is medically unstable secondary to restrictive eating.

Aim: To explore the experiences of parents when their child receives NGT feeding under physical restraint and understand the effects of this on them.

Carboxymethyl freeze-thawed tapioca starch moderates oil deterioration in deep-frying cycles of battered sausages.

This study was aimed at investigating the effect of carboxymethyl freeze-thawed tapioca starch (CM-FTS) in the batter wrapped ham sausages (CM-FTS-BHS) on the oil qualities following deep-frying cycles compared with tapioca starch, freeze-thawed tapioca starch, and carboxymethyl tapioca starch. As the deep-frying cycles increased, the degree of all oil deterioration continued to increase. Analysis of oxidation, acid values, carbonyl values, conjugated diene/triene content and low-field magnetic resonance revealed that adding CM-FTS to batter was more conducive to reducing the formation of oil deterioration products than other samples.

Objective: To obtain standard reference values of intraocular pressure measured with rebound tonometry in conscious healthy Egyptian vultures (Neophron percnopterus).

Methods: 17 Egyptian vultures presented for a routine health check, involving a full physical examination, blood film examination, Hct, manual total leukocyte count, and plasma biochemistry. 15 animals considered healthy and with no signs of stress underwent an ophthalmic examination, including observation of facial symmetry, adnexa, and direct fundoscopy to screen for ocular disease.
