Background And Introduction: Two and half percent of the Indian population suffer from gallbladder cancer (GBC). The primary factors that lead GBC are associated with mutation of several protooncogenes such as EGFR, ERBB2, Myc, and CCND1 along with dysregulation of several tumor suppressor genes such as SMAD4 and CDKN2A. Bacterial infection caused by S.

Background: Biological aging is a complex process influenced by various factors, including reproductive status and castration. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of castration on biological aging in dogs.

Method: Fifteen male crossbred dogs were randomly divided into a sham-operation control group (n = 5) and a castrated group (n = 10).

Article Synopsis
  • Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common cancer in children, with B-cell ALL (B-ALL) being the predominant subtype; recent advancements in genomic sequencing have enhanced our understanding of its genetic basis.
  • A study was conducted on 126 B-ALL patients in Rio de Janeiro to analyze the frequency of specific genetic variants (SNPs) in the IKZF1 and CDKN2A/2B genes and compare these with the general population.
  • The study found that certain SNPs (rs3731217, rs4132601, rs11978267) were more common in B-ALL patients, which could lead to improved personalized therapies and better treatment outcomes for affected children.

Novel liquid biopsy CNV biomarkers in malignant melanoma.

Sci Rep

July 2024

Department of Molecular Biology and Genomics, Comenius University in Bratislava, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin (JFM CU), Martin, Slovakia.

Malignant melanoma (MM) is known for its abundance of genetic alterations and a tendency for rapid metastasizing. Identification of novel plasma biomarkers may enhance non-invasive diagnostics and disease monitoring. Initially, we examined copy number variations (CNV) in CDK genes (CDKN2A, CDKN2B, CDK4) using MLPA (gDNA) and ddPCR (ctDNA) analysis.

Full-thickness high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL) are precursors of invasive cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The World Health Organization and Lower Anogenital Squamous Terminology Standardization Project for human papilloma virus (HPV)-associated lesions divide full-thickness HSIL of the cervix into thin HSIL with thickness of 1 to 9 cell layers and the typical full-thickness HSIL of >10 cell layers. Although HPV oncogene transcripts and p16ink4a overexpression, as markers of transforming HPV infection, are detectable in thin HSIL, the biological significance of thin HSIL in cervical carcinogenesis remains poorly understood.
