Encouraging family presence during resuscitation is controversial. Health care providers should use evidence-based practice to review this issue and be open to the idea of allowing the family to be present. The literature supports family presence during resuscitation and there is insufficient research in opposition to family presence. Health care institutions should revise their practices to coincide with the wants and needs of their patients and families. Nurses have an ethical obligation to intervene and create family presence programs.

Staphylococcaceae are a diverse bacterial family with important implications for human and animal health. This study highlights the One Health relevance of their environmental dispersal, particularly, by identifying closely related or genetically identical strains circulating between farm and community environments. Environmental Staphylococcaceae strains were isolated from animal farms and interconnected areas within a university setting, both influenced by anthropogenic activities.

Although microporous carbons can perform well for CO2 separations under high pressure conditions, their energy-demanding regeneration may render them a less attractive material option. Here, we developed a large-pore mesoporous carbon with pore sizes centered around 20-30 nm using a templated technical lignin. During the soft-templating process, unique cylindrical supramolecular assemblies form from the copolymer template.

Highly abundant in neurons, the cellular prion protein (PrP) is an obligatory precursor to the disease-associated misfolded isoform denoted PrP that accumulates in the rare neurodegenerative disorders referred to either as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) or as prion diseases. The ability of PrP to serve as a substrate for this template-mediated conversion process depends on several criteria but importantly includes the presence or absence of certain endoproteolytic events performed at the cell surface or in acidic endolysosomal compartments. The major endoproteolytic events affecting PrP are referred to as α- and β-cleavages, and in this review we outline the sites within PrP at which the cleavages occur, the mechanisms potentially responsible and their relevance to pathology.

Azerbaijan is major producer of fruit crops, such as pome and stone fruits, in the Caspian Sea and Caucasus Mountains areas (FAO Stat, 2022). No information is available on the occurrence of apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV, genus Trichovirus, family Betaflexiviridae) in the country. Therefore, the main fruit tree production areas in Azerbaijan were surveyed for ACLSV during the 2017-2019 growing seasons by DAS-ELISA using ACLSV reagents (Neogen - Scotland, UK) (Clark and Adams 1977).
