A 77-year-old woman diagnosed as having advanced gastric cancer with para-aortic lymph node metastasis received neoadjuvant chemotherapy with docetaxel, cisplatin, and S-1. After 2 courses of chemotherapy, distal gastrectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy was performed. There were no viable cancer cells in the primary lesion and lymph nodes.

Gum Elastic Bougie (GEB) was originally introduced into clinical practice in 1949 by Sir Robert Macintosh. British anesthesiologists choose this tracheal tube introducer than the malleable stylet to facilitate difficult intubation. However, the bougie may not always be used in an optimal manner in Japan.

Background: Although obesity is recognized to be a risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD), few studies have reported the association between obesity and CKD in the young population. We investigated the relationship between obesity and renal function including proteinuria in young Japanese.
Methods: This cross-sectional study consisted of 16,031 men and 5,746 women aged from 20 to 39 years who received health examinations.
We reported a case of super-elderly colon cancer with peritoneal dissemination effectively treated with modified FOLFOX6 chemotherapy. A 80-year-old woman was referred to our hospital for abdominal distension in January 2007. Abdominal CT showed peritoneal dissemination and colonoscopy revealed transverse colon cancer.

In many medical institutes the treatment for advanced (not resectable or radical grade C) or recurrent gastric cancer seems to be based on a regional perspective or prognostic restriction, and rarely on large-scale clinical studies; instead the selection is based on effective cases reported in the literature or on own.s own. In the current situation, chemotherapy using new anti-cancer drugs since S-1 has actually appeared to improve the prognosis or to maintain better QOL.
