Risk management (RM) and quality improvement (QI) departments are increasing in value as they work to ensure patient safety, comply with healthcare regulations, and improve patient outcomes. This article describes a model QI program that blends RM and QI principles to improve patient outcomes with fewer resources. This model is easily adaptable to all healthcare work groups.

The purpose of this article is to review clinical decision support (CDS) tools designed to reduce inpatient hypoglycemic events.
Recent Findings: CDS tools such as order set development, medication alerts, and data visibility have all been shown to be valuable tools in improving glycemic performance.

The transversus thoracic plane block (TTPB) has emerged as a promising regional anesthesia technique that blocks the anterior branches of the intercostal nerves in the chest wall, potentially providing improved analgesia for cardiac surgery patients.
