The self-assembly of the terdentate ligands 1a-h, based on terpyridine-like binding sites, with octahedrally coordinated metal ions, such as Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and Pb(II), leads to the formation of the supramolecular grid-type complexes 2a-c(M(II)), 3d-g(M(II)) and 4h(M(II)). The structures and compositions of these coordination complexes in solution were deduced from electrospray mass spectrometry (ESMS) measurements. The results agree with the data available from x-ray radiocrystallography in the solid state and/or NMR spectroscopy in solution. ESMS may be applied in cases where other methods are difficult to use or inconclusive. This study stresses the power of ESMS in supramolecular chemistry.

An overview is provided of behavioral research into human steering and collision avoidance including the processing of optic flow, optical looming and the role of the human mobile gaze system. A consideration is then made of the issues that may occur for autonomous vehicles (AV) when they move from grid-type road networks into complex inner-city streets and interact with human drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. Comparisons between human processing and AV processing of these interactions are made.

Autogenous bone grafts from the mandibular ramus are a known source of inadequate bone volume scenarios of the residual alveolar ridge. However, the conventional block-type harvesting technique cannot prevent bone marrow invasion, which can cause postoperative complications such as pain, swelling, and inferior alveolar nerve injury. This study aims to suggest a complication-free harvesting technique and present the results of bone grafting and donor sites.

Multivalent molecules are a potential group of bioactive compounds endowed with high affinity and specificity in innovative biomolecule-targeting therapeutic approaches. Herein, we report on a new and versatile N,N,N,N-donor ligand L (1,4)-N1,N4-bis(quinolin-2-ylmethylene)cyclohexane-1,4-diamine with two coordinating quinoline moieties connected with -1,4-diaminocyclohexane. It coordinates Cu forming a [2 × 2] square grid-type complex C1 [CuL] and Ni giving a triangle-type complex C2 [NiL].

The reaction of heteroditopic ligand 1 featuring a hard pyridine-hydrazone-pyrimidine (N,N,N) site and a softer pyrimidine-hydrazone-phosphane (N,N,P) pocket with [Pd(CHCN)](OTf) in different metal-to-ligand ratios (M : L) gave the homobimetallic Pd complex [Pd(1)(CHCN)](OTf) (2, M : L ratio 2 : 1), the [4 + 4] metallomacrocyclic Pd complex [Pd(1)](OTf) (3, M : L ratio 1 : 1) and the monometallic complex [Pd(1)](OTf) (4, M : L ratio 1 : 2). The soft N,N,P pocket preferably coordinates Pd, while the harder N,N,N coordination site selectively binds Zn forming the homoleptic meridional "corner" complexes [Zn(1)](OTf) (5) and [PdZn(1)](OTf) (6). The distinctive coordination behavior of ligand 1 is highlighted by the self-assembly of the heterometallic Pd/Zn grid-type complex [PdZn(1)](OTf) (7) in a one-pot reaction.
