Amyand hernias are unusual inguinal hernias that contain the vermiform appendix. Rarely, an Amyand hernia can be complicated by acute appendicitis and present a diagnostic dilemma. Herein, we present the case of a complicated Amyand hernia that was initially diagnosed as an incarcerated inguinal hernia.

Slimmer's paralysis is a peripheral mononeuropathy of the common peroneal (fibular) nerve (CPN/CFN), typically associated with rapid weight loss resulting in loss of subcutaneous fat pad and subsequent neural compression at the fibular head. Here, we describe a young man with a 1-year history of right-sided foot drop, which developed following a rapid intentional weight loss of 11 kg over a period of 15 days. This weight loss was preceded by rapid weight gain over 2 days owing to binge eating.

Background: Patient involvement in research can help to ensure that the evidence generated aligns with their needs and priorities. In the Establishing Meaningful Patient-Centered Outcomes With Relevance for Patients with Polycystic Kidney Disease (EMPOWER PKD) project we aimed to identify patient-important outcomes and discuss the impact of PKD on patients.

Methods: Nine focus groups were held with adult patients with PKD, caregivers, and clinical or research experts in PKD.
