Past functional toxicogenomic studies have indicated that genes relevant to membrane lipid synthesis are important for tolerance to the lanthanides. Moreover, previously reported imaging of patient's brains following administration of gadolinium-based contrast agents shows gadolinium lining the vessels of the brain. Taken together, these findings suggest the disruption of cytoplasmic membrane integrity as a mechanism by which lanthanides induce cytotoxicity.

Motivation: Drug-target interactions (DTIs) play a pivotal role in drug discovery, as it aims to identify potential drug targets and elucidate their mechanism of action. In recent years, the application of natural language processing (NLP), particularly when combined with pre-trained language models, has gained considerable momentum in the biomedical domain, with the potential to mine vast amounts of texts to facilitate the efficient extraction of DTIs from the literature.
Results: In this article, we approach the task of DTIs as an entity-relationship extraction problem, utilizing different pre-trained transformer language models, such as BERT, to extract DTIs.

Biological clock technologies are designed to assess the acceleration of biological age (B-age) in diverse cell types, offering a distinctive opportunity in toxicogenomic research to explore the impact of environmental stressors, social challenges, and unhealthy lifestyles on health impairment. These clocks also play a role in identifying factors that can hinder aging and promote a healthy lifestyle. Over the past decade, researchers in epigenetics have developed testing methods that predict the chronological and biological age of organisms.

Hookah, or waterpipe, is a tobacco smoking device that has gained popularity in the United States. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that waterpipe smoke (WPS) is associated with various adverse effects on human health, including infectious diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), particularly thrombotic events. However, the molecular mechanisms through which WPS contributes to disease development remain unclear.
