Understanding and managing pain in patients with terminal cancer is a vital aspect of palliative care, aimed at relieving suffering and improving quality of life in the final stages of illness. Studies indicate that approximately 50% of patients with stage 4 cancer report moderate to severe pain, with a quarter experiencing severe cancer-related pain. Despite opioid prescriptions in 97% of cases, a significant portion of patients continues to suffer unresolved pain during the last week of life.

Nutrition is a critical and evidence-based component of effective blood glucose control and most dietary advice emphasizes carbohydrate and calorie reduction. Emerging global evidence demonstrates marked interindividual differences in postprandial glucose response (PPGR) although no such data exists in India and previous studies have primarily evaluated PPGR variation in individuals without diabetes.

Unlabelled: Widespread recognition of food as medicine interventions' role in reducing food insecurity and improving health outcomes has recently emerged. Several states have released In Lieu of Services, state-approved alternative services that may be offered by managed care organizations in place of covered benefits, or 1,115 Medicaid waivers, which may allow for expanded nutrition services to reduce food insecurity and improve health outcomes. However, there are significant gaps in understanding how to create a statewide system for delivering "healthcare by food" interventions.
