The work describes the data on the selection of optimal hypothermic storage for progressively moving fraction of human spermatozoa isolated from ejaculate. Results were analysed by assessing sperm motility, oocyte fertilization rate, and embryonic development after re-insemination of unfertilized oocytes by spermatozoa stored under hypothermic conditions.

The balance between food intake and energy expenditure is precisely regulated to maintain adipose stores. Leptin, which is produced in and released from adipose in direct proportion to its size, is a major contributor to this control and initiates its homeostatic responses largely via binding to leptin receptors (LepR) in the hypothalamus. Decreases in hypothalamic LepR binding signals starvation, leading to hunger and reduced energy expenditure, whereas increases in hypothalamic LepR binding can suppress food intake and increase energy expenditure.

To evaluate the clinical outcomes of cornea transplantation (penetrating keratoplasty, Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty, Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty, and deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty) using donor corneas stored in Eusol-C hypothermic storage medium compared to corneas stored in organ-culture. : The clinical outcomes of 92 patients who underwent corneal transplantation with human donor corneas stored in Eusol-C medium at 2-8 °C were retrospectively evaluated. The control group consisted of 169 patients who received corneas organ-cultured at 31 °C.

Neonatal hypothermia is a significant global problem of neonates with huge contribution of neonatal morbidity and mortality. Recognizing major contributors of neonatal hypothermia is very important in designing preventing methods which was the objective of our study. This was an institution-based cross-sectional study conducted on 339 neonates admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital over 6months.

Adequate hypothermic storage of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) is of fundamental importance since they have been explored in several regenerative medicine initiatives. However, the actual clinical application of hMSCs necessitates hypothermic storage for long periods, a process that requires the use of non-toxic and efficient cryo-reagents capable of maintaining high viability and differentiating properties after thawing. Current cryopreservation methods are based on cryoprotectant agents (CPAs) containing dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO), which have been shown to be toxic for clinical applications.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTorpor is a state used by several mammals to survive harsh winters and avoid predation, characterized by a drastic reduction in metabolic rate followed by a decrease in body temperature, heart rate, and many physiological variables. During torpor, all organs and systems must adapt to the new low-energy expenditure conditions to preserve physiological homeostasis. These adaptations may be exploited in a translational perspective in several fields.
