In vertebrates, muscles of the back (epaxial) and of the body wall and limbs (hypaxial) derive from precursor cells located in the dermomyotome of the somites. In this paper, we investigate the mediolateral regionalisation of epaxial and hypaxial muscle precursor cells during segmentation of the paraxial mesoderm and myotome formation, using mouse LaacZ/LacZ chimeras. We demonstrate that precursors of medial and lateral myotomes are clonally separated in the mouse somite, consistent with earlier studies in birds. This clonal separation occurs after segmentation of the paraxial mesoderm. We then show that myotome precursors are mediolaterally regionalised and that this regionalisation precedes clonal separation between medial and lateral precursors. Strikingly, the properties of myotome precursors are remarkably similar in the medial and lateral domains. Finally, detailed analysis of our clones demonstrates a direct spatial relationship between the myocytes in the myotome and their precursors in the dermomyotome, and earlier in the somite and presomitic mesoderm, refuting several models of myotome formation, based on permanent stem cell systems or extensive cell mingling. This progressive mediolateral regionalisation of the myotome at the cellular level correlates with progressive changes in gene expression in the dermomyotome and myotome.

The current study performed a comprehensive assessment of blood supply in the cerebellum of dromedary camels. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to provide detailed information about the origins, routes, and complicated patterns of branching in the rostral and caudal cerebellar arteries of dromedary camels. In total, 55 heads from male dromedary camels aged 2-6 years were analyzed using advanced casting techniques.

Background: Aim of the present paper is to report the preliminary results of CAD-CAM (Computer-Aided Design - Computer-Aided Manufacturing) technology application to distal femur nonunion treatment with free fibula flap, custom made medial plating and maintenance of a stable lateral locking plate.
Methods: Two cases of distal femur nonunion that occurred after lateral locking plating were treated and prospectively followed-up. Surgical planning followed the same preoperative protocol adopted for mandibular CAD-CAM reconstruction.

Reconstructed breast with silicone breast implants (SBIs) after nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) provides high patient satisfaction from a cosmetic point of view, but low patient satisfaction with respect to hypoesthesia of the reconstructed breast, and reinnervation is required. Currently, few reports are available on reinnervation in breast reconstruction with implants, and detailed data on desensitization of reconstructed breasts are lacking. Therefore, we examined perceptual data after NSM with respect to reinnervation.
