The use of a correcting element to compensate for higher-order aberrations in an optical system often requires accurate alignment of the correcting element. This is not always possible, as in the case of a contact lens on the eye. We propose a method consisting of partial correction of every aberration term to minimize the average variance of the residual wave-front aberration produced by Gaussian decentrations (translations and rotations). Analytical expressions to estimate the fraction of every aberration term that should be corrected for a given amount of decentration are derived. To demonstrate the application of this method, three examples are used to compare performance with total and with partial correction. The partial correction is more robust and always yields some benefit regardless of the amount of decentration.

Currently, the automotive sector is showing increased demands regarding the color of cars in general, but especially the quality and the time of painting, in particular. Companies working in this industry, especially in specialized painting services, must perform work of impeccable quality in the shortest possible time in order to be efficient. Color differences that appear in different areas of the car result from the use of different formulas for obtaining color.

Amyloid PET imaging plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and research of Alzheimer's disease (AD), allowing non-invasive detection of amyloid-β plaques in the brain. However, the low spatial resolution of PET scans limits the accurate quantification of amyloid deposition due to partial volume effects (PVE). In this study, we propose a novel approach to addressing PVE using a latent diffusion model for resolution recovery (LDM-RR) of PET imaging.

Rapid and accurate detection of protein content is essential for ensuring the quality of maize. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) technology faces limitations due to surface effects and sample homogeneity issues when measuring the protein content of whole maize grains. Focusing on maize grain powder can significantly improve the quality of data and the accuracy of model predictions.

Scorpion is a commonly used drug in traditional Chinese medicine for treating epilepsy, although the exact mechanisms are not yet fully understood. This study aimed to compare the treatment effects of Scorpion water extract (SWE) and Scorpion ethanol extract (SEE) on mice with pentetrazole-induced epilepsy and investigate the possible mechanisms through metabolomics methods. A pentetrazole-induced epileptic mice model was used to assess the corrective effects of SWE and SEE.

Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) is an inherited lysosomal storage disorder leading to deleterious brain effects. While animal models suggested that MPS I severely affects white matter (WM), whole-brain diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) analysis was not performed due to MPS-related morphological abnormalities. 3T DTI data from 28 severe (MPS IH, treated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation-HSCT), 16 attenuated MPS I patients (MPS IA) enrolled under the study protocol NCT01870375, and 27 healthy controls (HC) were analyzed using the free-water correction (FWC) method to resolve macrostructural partial volume effects and unravel differences in DTI metrics accounting for microstructural abnormalities.
