The ALTEA project studies the problems related to possible functional damage to the Central Nervous System (CNS) due to particle radiation in space environment. The project is a large international and multi-disciplinary collaboration. The ALTEA instrumentation is an helmet-shaped multi-sensor device that will measure concurrently the dynamics of the functional status of the visual system and the passage of each particle through the brain within a pre-determined energy window. ALTEA is scheduled to fly in the International Space Station in February 2003. One part of the multi-sensor device, one of the advanced silicon telescopes, will be launched in the ISS in early 2002 and serve as test for the final device and as discriminating dosimeter for the particle fluences within the ISS.

Purpose: The medial collateral ligament (MCL), and posterior oblique ligament (POL) are the primary valgus stabilisers of the knee, and clinical examinations in grading valgus instability can be inherently subjective. Stress radiography of medial-sided knee injuries provides objective diagnosis and was analysed in this study. We hypothesised that (1) medial joint space opening would increase cutting the superficial MCL (sMCL), POL and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL); (2) isolated deep MCL (dMCL) injury would not increase medial joint space opening; (3) medial joint space opening would increase at higher flexion angles.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, atypical respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) circulation patterns emerged, with the occurrence of RSV activity outside the typical winter season. This study investigates the impact of COVID-19 and associated non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) on RSV seasonality.
Methods: The onset, offset and peak of RSV epidemics from 2018 to 2022 across 12 European countries were determined using the 3% positivity threshold method.

Background: The co-occurrence of diabetes and mental disorders is an exceedingly common comorbidity with poor prognosis. We aim to investigate the impact of green space, garden space, and the natural environment on the risk of mental disorders among the population living with diabetes.
Methods: We performed a longitudinal analysis based on 39,397 participants with diabetes from the UK Biobank.

Background: Internal displacement and cross-country migration are an increasing global phenomenon drawing the attention of politicians and the public. Causes and effects on the migrants and receptor populations are varied and often shaped by immigration laws and how migrants and refugees are being dealt with by local conditions, policy frameworks and by the host population (receptors). The massive influx of Venezuelan migrants into Colombia for more than a decade has characteristics which warrant a systematic analysis to identify contextual and individual factors favouring and hindering the well-being of migrants and their new Colombian neighbours of the receptor population.

Accurately predicting satellite clock deviation is crucial for improving real-time location accuracy in a GPS navigation system. Therefore, to ensure high levels of real-time positioning accuracy, it is essential to address the challenge of enhancing satellite clock deviation prediction when high-precision clock data is unavailable. Given the high frequency, sensitivity, and variability of space-borne GPS satellite atomic clocks, it is important to consider the periodic variations of satellite clock bias (SCB) in addition to the inherent properties of GPS satellite clocks such as frequency deviation, frequency drift, and frequency drift rate to improve SCB prediction accuracy and gain a better understanding of its characteristics.
