The energetics of Pb(II) ion binding to DNA was determined from their binding isotherms by equilibrium dialysis and atomic absorption spectroscopy at different ionic strengths. Two types of binding of Pb(II) ions to DNA at different NaCl concentrations were observed.

This article reports the obtention of a new gellan-based hydrogel linked with Fe and loaded with a natural micro/nanostructured carbon designed as a contaminant's removal from wastewater. Hydrogels are known for their water-retaining properties, high binding capacity, and eco-friendly features. The new material is expected to behave as one cost-effective and efficient sorbent, including natural carbon structures with various functional groups.

Rapid industrialization, urbanization, and human activities in catchments have presented a significant global challenge in removing heavy metal contaminants from wastewater. Here, a study was conducted to synthesize a nano-magnetic dendrimer based on a trimesoyl core that can be easily separated from the environment using an external magnet (FeO@NR-TMD-G1, FeO@NR-TMD-G2). The synthesized structure was characterized using various conventional techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area analysis (BET).

A novel class of hydrogels, rich in a variety of functional groups capable of interacting/complexing with metal ions was successfully synthesized. This was achieved by using acryloyl derivatives of natural α-amino acids, specifically ornithine and cystine. The δ-amino group of ornithine was modified with an acryloyl group to facilitate its attachment to the polymer chain.

In this study, the impact of surfactants on the adsorption behavior of Pb(II) onto microplastics-sediment (MPs-S) complexes was investigated. Firstly, virgin polyamide (VPA) and polyethylene (VPE) were placed in Xiangjiang River sediment for six months to conduct in-situ aging. The results indicated that the biofilm-developed polyamide (BPA) and polyethylene (BPE) formed new oxygen-containing functional groups and different biofilm species.

In this study, a novel and cost-effective approach was employed to prepare an effective Pb(II) adsorbent. We synthesized highly porous CMCSB-SCB microbeads with multiple active binding sites by combining carboxymethylated chitosan Schiff base (CMCSB) and sugarcane bagasse (SCB). These microbeads were structurally and morphologically characterized using various physical, analytical, and microscopic techniques.
