Purpose: To report a case of delayed extrusion of primary ganciclovir implants in a patient with immune recovery vitritis syndrome.

Method: Interventional case report. A 54-year-old HIV positive male patient with immune recovery vitritis syndrome had spontaneous extrusion of bilateral ganciclovir devices 4 years after primary implantation.

Result: The extruded ganciclovir implants were removed from both eyes, and removal was complicated by vitreous hemorrhage in one eye. Histopathological examination of the extruded implant, LE, showed marked inflammation and evidence of foreign body reaction.

Conclusion: Excess inflammation in eyes with immune recovery vitritis syndrome may trigger a foreign body reaction that results in a delayed extrusion of primary ganciclovir implants. The site of ganciclovir implants in patients with immune recovery vitritis syndrome should be regularly inspected for eroding struts to prevent secondary endophthalmitis.

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a widespread psychiatric condition impacting social and occupational functioning, making it a leading cause of disability. The diagnosis of MDD remains clinical, based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)-5 criteria, as biomarkers have not yet been validated for diagnostic purposes or as predictors of treatment response. Traditional treatment strategies often follow a one-size-fits-all approach obtaining suboptimal outcomes for many patients who fail to experience response or recovery.

Introduction: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a highly heterogeneous hematological malignancy, remains a major challenge in adult oncology. Stem cell research has highlighted the crucial role of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in regulating cellular differentiation and self-renewal processes, which are pivotal in AML pathogenesis and therapy resistance.

Methods: This study explores the relationship between cuproptosis-related lncRNAs and AML prognosis, providing novel insights into their impact on hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases and cancer are leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Patients with malignancies are at increased risk for cardiovascular complications including acute coronary syndromes, chemotherapy or radiation therapy related complications and cardiac metastasis.

Case Summary: We present a case of a 47-year-old female with metastatic cancer on immunotherapy presented with anterior ST elevation myocardial infarction followed by emergent percutaneous coronary intervention in the left anterior descending artery.

Single-cell transcriptomics of bronchoalveolar lavage during PRRSV infection with different virulence.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes significant economic losses in the global swine industry due to its high genetic diversity and different virulence levels, which complicate disease management and vaccine development. This study evaluated longitudinal changes in the immune cell composition of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and the clinical outcomes across PRRSV strains with varying virulence, using techniques including single-cell transcriptomics. In highly virulent infection, faster viral replication results in an earlier peak lung-damage time point, marked by significant interstitial pneumonia, a significant decrease in macrophages, and an influx of lymphocytes.

State Key Laboratory of Marine Food Processing and Safety Control, Dalian Polytechnic University, Dalian, Liaoning 116034, PR China. Electronic address:

The existence of ochratoxin A (OTA) in agricultural products poses significant threats to human health and environment, underscoring the critical need for its prompt and precise quantification. A particle counting immunosensor for the highly sensitive detection of OTA was presented, employing SiO@CuO nanoparticles to facilitate click chemistry. The quantity of SiO@CuO nanoparticles, and consequently the Cu²⁺ concentration, can be directly altered through the immune response involving OTA.
