Plasma progesterone levels were measured during pregnancy and the normal human menstrual cycle by thin-layer densitometry of a specific fluorescence reaction for delta4-3-ketosteroids. 94 determinations were carried out from the 7th week of pregnancy until term. 84 plasma progesterone concentrations were estimated between day 16 and day 26 and other 10 during the preovulatory phase of the normal menstrual cycle.

Hypothyroidism causes ovarian dysfunction and infertility in women and animals and impairs the hypothalamic expression of kisspeptin (Kp). However, kisspeptin is also expressed in the genital system, and the lack of the Kp receptor (Kiss1r) in the uterus is linked to reduced implantation rates. This study investigated the impact of hypothyroidism on the uterine expression of Kp and Kiss1r in female rats throughout the estrous cycle and the associated changes in uterine activity modulators.

The widespread use of synthetic phenolic antioxidants (SPAs) has led to their ubiquity and may contribute to multiple adverse health outcomes by affecting hormone level disruption. This study aimed to assess the exposure levels of SPAs in the plasma of the normoglycemic rural Chinese population, investigate the association of single and mixed pollutant exposures with sex hormones, and analyze the moderating role of body mass index (BMI) in these relationships. A cross-sectional study including 763 individuals with normal blood glucose from the Henan Rural cohort was conducted.

Activation of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) elicits negative effects on the reproductive system in mammals. Omega-3 (n-3) fatty acid (FA) supplementation lowers ECS activation and has anti-inflammatory effects. Thus, we hypothesized that supplementing cows with n-3 FA will downregulate components of the ECS and immune system in preovulatory follicles and in the endometrium.

Background: Saidi sheep are one of the most important farm animals in Upper Egypt, particularly in the Assiut governorate. Since they can provide meat, milk, fiber, and skins from low-quality roughages, sheep are among the most economically valuable animals bred for food in Egypt. Regarding breeding, relatively little is known about the Saidi breed.

Context The adipose tissue produces adipokines - hormones essential to many biological functions, including reproduction. Aims We hypothesised that resistin, one of the adipokines, is present in the blood plasma, uterine luminal flushings (ULF) and uterus of pigs during the oestrous cycle and early pregnancy, and that resistin influences uterine steroidogenesis. Methods This study aimed to determine the expression of resistin in the porcine endometrium and myometrium during the cycle and pregnancy by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot (WB).
