Chicken bones in the uterus - an exceptional reason for sterility.Because of a substantial increase in the migration from developing countries to Europe, gynaecologists have to face more the fact, that they are confronted more frequently both with medical and social problems from these regions. WE present the following case: In 1999 a Congolese women was referred to our clinic because of sterility of unknown reason. The hysteroscopy followed by D & C showed chicken bones in the uterus. It can be assumed, that a clandestine abortion performed in her native land is the reason for this finding.

Cardiac vagal control and inflammation are upregulated in exceptional human longevity.

Intern Emerg Med

December 2024

Department of Clinical Sciences and Community Health, University of Milan, via Francesco Sforza 35, 20122, Milan, Italy.

We investigated the interplay of cardiovascular autonomic and inflammatory profiles in persons with extreme longevity (PEL), their direct offsprings (DO), and a group of controls matched for age and sex with the DO. Cardiac autonomic control was assessed through the heart rate variability (HRV) using spectral and symbolic analysis. The plasma concentration and gene expression of interleukin (IL)-10, IL-6, and TNF-α were quantified.

Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) can originate from a variety of reasons, including water pollution coming from agriculture, effluent from treatment plants, sewage system leaks, pH and light levels, and the consequences of climate change. In recent years, HAB events have become a serious environmental problem, paralleling population growth, agricultural development, increasing air temperatures, and declining precipitation. Hence, it is crucial to identify the mechanisms responsible for the formation of HABs, accurately assess their short- and long-term impacts, and quantify their variations based on climate projections for developing accurate action plans and effectively managing resources.

Nanostructured bismuth ferrite (BiFeO) single-phase nanoparticles with 76.2% crystallinity and 100% perovskite structure were synthesized using a co-precipitation method. The X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the perovskite structure of BFO, and Rietveld refinement demonstrated the presence of a triclinic structure with the 1 space group.

Introduction: While vulvar masses are not prevalent in society, they are one of the reasons for complaints that arise during visits to gynecology outpatient clinics. An excision is typically necessary for both the purpose of diagnosing and treating the condition.

Methods: We documented three exceptional instances with distinct histopathological diagnoses and varying presentations, as well as a consecutive series of five patients, including one Bartholin abscess and one labia major abscess.
