Simulation of the Long-Term Toxicity Towards Bobwhite Quail () by the Monte Carlo Method.

J Xenobiot

December 2024

Department of Environmental, Health Science, Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri IRCCS, Via Mario Negri 2, 20156 Milano, Italy.

In this study, models for NOEL (No Observed Effect Level) and NOEC (No Observed Effect Concentration) related to long-term/reproduction toxicity of various organic pesticides are built up, evaluated, and compared with similar models proposed in the literature. The data have been obtained from the EFSA OpenFoodTox database, collecting only data for the Bobwhite quail (. Models have been developed using the CORAL-2023 program, which can be used to develop quantitative structure-property/activity relationships (QSPRs/QSARs) and the Monte Carlo method for the optimization of the model.

Background: Plant diseases cause huge losses in agriculture worldwide every year, but the prolonged use of current commercial fungicides has led to the development of resistance in plant pathogenic fungi. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new, efficient, and green fungicides.

Results: Twenty-three nootkatone-based thiazole-hydrazone compounds were designed, synthesized, and characterized by Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), proton (H) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), carbon-13 (C) NMR, and high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS).

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers found in women worldwide. Besides the availability of clinical drugs, drug resistance and considerable side effects are concerning issues driven the needs for the discovery of novel anticancer agents. Aromatase inhibition is one of the effective strategies for management of hormone-dependent breast cancer.

Diabetes mellitus has dominated the globe as a chronic health condition and has become a major global health concern. The inhibition of the key metabolic enzymes of carbohydrates digestion including α-amylase and α-glucosidase are the promising targets for the treatment of diabetes via delaying glucose absorption. Therefore, nitrogen containing saturated heterocycle (pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl and N-methylpiperazinyl) based hydrazones derivatives 5-23 were synthesized through two step reactions and evaluated for their anti-diabetic potential.

Chemoprevention is one of the accessible strategies for preventing, delaying or reversing cancer processing utilizing chemical intervention of carcinogenesis. NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) is a xenobiotic metabolizing cytosolic enzyme/protein with important functional properties towards oxidation stress, supporting its ability in detoxification/chemoprotective role. A set of 3,5-diylidene-4-piperidones (as curcumin mimics) bearing alkyl sulfonyl group were synthesized with potential NQO1 induction properties.
