We hypothesized that active outer hair cells drive cochlear fluid circulation. The hypothesis was tested by delivering the neurotoxin, kainic acid, to the intact round window of young gerbil cochleae while monitoring auditory responses in the cochlear nucleus. Sounds presented at a modest level significantly expedited kainic acid delivery.

A coherent concatenation of multiple solitary waves may lead to a stable infrared and visible broadband filament in a ceramic YAG polycrystal. This self-trapped soliton train is leveraged to implement self-referenced multiplex coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (SR-M-CARS) imaging. Simulations and experiments illustrating the filamentation process and the concatenation of focusing-defocusing cycles in ceramic and crystal YAG are presented.

In this paper, we propose an integrated method for windowing and matched filtering in the analog domain based on microwave photonic technology, which utilizes dispersion regulation of optical waveguide to achieve the windowing processing of broadband signals in the optical domain and the surface acoustic wave filter (SAWF) to achieve the following matched filtering processing in the radio frequency (RF) domain, thus realizing their integration processing in the analog domain. The proposed method is validated by simulation and experiment, in which the integrated processing of matched filtering and windowing in the analog domain for a linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal with a bandwidth of 1 GHz is carried out and the peak to sidelobe ratio (PSLR) of the output signal is -19.55 dB and the mainlobe width (MLW) broadens to 0.

Absolute line strength measurements of hydroperoxyl (HO2) radical in the OO-stretching (ν3) fundamental band have been performed by means of mid-infrared time-resolved dual-comb spectroscopy. By employing two sets of dual-comb spectrometers, high-resolution time-resolved spectra of HO2 and HCl, formed in the photolysis reaction system of Cl2/CH3OH/O2, could be, respectively, measured near 1123 and 3059 cm-1. With kinetic simulations, spectral analysis of both HO2 and HCl, as well as the accurate line strength of the HCl R(9) transition at 3059.

This research presents a method based on deep learning for the reverse design of sound-absorbing structures. Traditional methods require time-consuming individual numerical simulations followed by cumbersome calculations, whereas the deep learning design method significantly simplifies the design process, achieving efficient and rapid design objectives. By utilizing deep neural networks, a mapping relationship between structural parameters and the sound absorption coefficient curve is established.
