Alphaxalone, an anesthetic steroid dissolved in 20% Cremophor solution was administered intraperitoneally to test the subacute toxicity (administration for one month) and chronic toxicity (administration for 3 months). In daily doses less than 8 mg/kg, alphaxalone did not show any particular toxic sign after administered for three months. Rats tolerated to daily administration of 20 mg/kg for three months, without showing severe toxic signs in body weight curve, blood cells and biochemical data obtained in blood and urine. However, some female rats receiving 50 mg/kg/day of alphaxalone, died by paralysis of respiratory center at the second day. Main histo-pathological changes induced by subacute and chronic administrations of the larger doses than 20 mg/kg, were swelling of cells in the liver and kidneys, but severe pathological changes were not seen in any organs.

Post-stroke aphasia is a network disorder characterized by language impairments and aberrant network activation. While patients with post-stroke aphasia recover over time, the dynamics of the underlying changes in the brain remain elusive. Neuroimaging work demonstrated that language recovery is a heterogeneous process, characterized by varying activation levels in several regions of the left-hemispheric language network and the domain-general bilateral multiple-demand network.

Background: Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and disability among adults. Given the restricted therapeutic window for intravascular interventions and neuroprotection during the acute phase, there has been a growing focus on tissue repair and functional recovery in the subacute and chronic phases after stroke. The pro-inflammatory microglial polarization occurs in subacute and chronic phases after stroke and may represent therapeutic targets for stroke recovery.

Chronic stage neuropsychological assessments of children with severe TBI typically center around a referral question and focus on assessing cognitive, behavioral, and emotional functioning, making differential diagnoses, and planning treatment. When severe TBI-related neurological deficits are subtle and fall outside commonly assessed behavioral indicators, as can happen with theory of mind and social information processing, they can go unobserved and subsequently fail to be assessed. Additionally, should chronic stage cognitive, behavioral, and emotional assessment findings fall within the average to above average range, a child experiencing ongoing significant unassessed severe TBI-related subtle deficits could be mistakenly judged to have "recovered" from their injury; and to be experiencing no significant ongoing residual neurological deficits.

Purpose: To determine whether there is a difference in apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) values in white matter pathways in the subacute period after COVID-19 infection and to evaluate the correlation between diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) metrics and laboratory findings.
Material And Methods: The study included 64 healthy controls and 91 patients. Patients were classified as group 1 (all patients, n = 91), group 2 (outpatients, n = 58), or group 3 (inpatients, n = 33).

As pulsed-field ablation (PFA) emerges as a promising therapy for atrial arrhythmias, an understanding of the cellular injury to cardiac tissue is critical to evaluating and interpreting results for each PFA system. This review aims to detail the mechanism of cell death for PFA, compare the cell death mechanism to thermal ablation modalities, clarify common histology markers, detail the progression of PFA lesions from the acute, to subacute, to chronic maturation states, and discuss clinical indicators of PFA lesions.
