Study: In this study 24 patients with tumours of the mandible, mandibular resection, neck dissection and reconstruction by microvascular iliac crest (13) or scapula transplants (11) were examined following implantological treatment.

Results: In all patients the implantological examination was performed on average two years and five months after implant insertion. This allowed for observation of periotest values, periimplant probing depth and sulcus bleeding (SBI). Furthermore, the loss of periimplant bone was registered radiologically. In both groups periotest values were normal. In the group with scapular transplants the mean periotest value was -3.2 and in the other group -0.8. Pathological probing depth was registered in both groups and sulcus bleeding was similar. The loss of periimplant crestal bone was similar in both groups, too.

Discussion: It can thus be concluded that perimimplant conditions were equal in both groups two years after implant loading. The stability of implants in scapula transplants was higher than in iliac crest transplants.

Background: Vertebral body defects pose a significant challenge in spinal reconstructive surgery. Compression fractures of the vertebral corpus are typically treated with vertebral augmentation procedures. There are significant risks associated with the introduction of foreign material in the spine, including infection and pseudarthrosis.

Introduction: Surgical treatment of pelvic girdle pain (PGP) involves arthrodesis of sacroiliac (SI) and pubic symphysis joints. Fusion of pubic symphysis involves the implantation of an autologous iliac crest tricortical graft harvested from the iliac crest. The objective was to assess the safety of a novel synthetic graft substitute (b.

Background: Surgical management methods for Hepple IV-V osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) are diverse. This study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy of arthroscopic autologous cancellous bone grafting and medial malleolar osteotomy combined with autologous periosteal iliac bone grafting in the treatment of medial Hepple IV-V OLT.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of clinical data from patients who underwent surgical treatment for Hepple IV-V OLT (2020-2023) was conducted.

Background: To investigate and quantify the influence of body mass index (BMI) on the efficacy and outcomes of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic surgery (PTES), a novel minimally invasive surgical technique in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH).

Methods: A total of 55 patients suffering from single-level LDH with or without high iliac crest, scoliosis or calcification, who underwent PTES in our department from January 2019 to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into two groups according to BMI.

Background: No appropriate studies have been conducted that compare the biomechanical properties of different fenestration positions in deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA)-vascularized iliac bone grafts for femoral head necrosis (ONFH) treatment. In this study, we aimed to explore the fenestration locations of DCIA-vascularized iliac grafting in ONFH treatment using FEA and clinical retrospective analysis.

Methods: We simulated an iliac bone flap transplantation with a vascularized tip by finite element analysis (FEA).
