Article Abstract

The reaction of the diphenyl(phenylethynyl)selenonium triflate 1a with active methylene compounds 5 and t-BuOK in THF gave furan derivatives 6. The [10-Se-4(C3O)] selenuranes 8a and 8b could be isolated from the reactions with benzoylacetonitrile 5f and with 1,3-indandione 5g, respectively, as reaction intermediates. The structures of the selenuranes 8 were elucidated by X-ray crystallography and (77)Se high-resolution solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The selenuranes 8 underwent ligand coupling on standing at room temperature or refluxing in chloroform and gave the furan derivatives 6 and the ring-opened product 9. Similarly, the reaction of 1a with benzamide 13a and pivalamide 13d in the presence of NaH in THF afforded oxazole derivatives 14.

Nitrogen Enriched Tröger's Base Polymers of Intrinsic Microporosity for Heterogeneous Catalysis.

ACS Appl Polym Mater

Heterogeneous catalysis is significantly enhanced by the use of highly porous polymers with specific functionalities, such as basic groups, which accelerate reaction rates. Polymers of intrinsic microporosity (PIMs) provide a unique platform for catalytic reactions owing to their high surface areas and customizable pore structures. We herein report a series of Tröger's base polymers (TB-PIMs) with enhanced basicity, achieved through the incorporation of nitrogen-containing groups into their repeat units, such as triazine and triphenylamine.

Domino Knoevenagel-cyclization reactions of styrene substrates, containing an -(-formyl)aryl subunit, were carried out with -substituted 2-cyanoacetamides to prepare tetrahydro-4-pyrano[3,4-]quinolone and hexahydrobenzo[]phenanthridine derivatives by competing IMHDA and IMSDA cyclization, respectively. The diastereoselective IMHDA step with α,β-unsaturated amide, thioamide, ester and ketone subunits as a heterodiene produced condensed chiral tetrahydropyran or thiopyran derivatives, which in the case of Meldrum's acid were reacted further with amine nucleophiles in a multistep domino sequence. In order to simplify the benzene-condensed tricyclic core of the targets and get access to hexahydro-1-pyrano[3,4-]pyridine derivatives, a truncated substrate was reacted with cyclic and acyclic active methylene reagents in diastereoselective Knoevenagel-IMHDA reactions to prepare novel condensed heterocyclic scaffolds.

Regulating carbon hybridization states lies at the heart of engineering carbon materials with tailored properties but orchestrating the sequential transition across three states has remained elusive. Here, we visiualize stepwise evolution in carbon hybridizations from sp³ to sp² and to sp states via dehydrogenation and elimination reactions of methylcyano-functionalized molecules on surfaces. Utilizing scanning probing microscopy, we distinguish three distinct carbon-carbon bond types within polymers induced by annealing at elevated temperatures.

In the current research mushroom/bentonite clay (RDBNC) as a low-cost bionanosorbent was investigated for adsorption of methylene blue (MB) and malachite green (MG) dye from contaminated water. The bionanosorbent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Thermal Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), and Zeta-potential techniques. Adsorption experiments of RDBNC for MB, MG dyes following Freundlich isotherm and pseudo second order kinetic models.
