The crystal and molecular structure of bis(ferrocenecarboxylato)(phthalocyaninato)silicon(IV) (1) is reported. The structure is compared to the only other two fully solved Si(Pc) structures. The size of the Si atom is shown to vary with the nature of the axial ligands. The implications of this finding for the chemistry and structures of the [Si(Pc)O](n)() materials is discussed. The cyclic voltammograms of 1 manifest four couples. One of these is due to the ferrocenecarboxylato ligands; this indicates that both undergo oxidation and reduction at the same potentials. Here the first study of the electrochromic behavior of a complex that also contains a redox active ligand in addition to the electrochromic center (1) is also reported. The effect of the ligand redox properties on the electrochromic properties of the Si(Pc) center is discussed.

In this work, the fracture mechanism of winding carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRPs) based on epoxy matrices reinforced by polysulfone film was investigated. Two types of polymer matrices were used: epoxy oligomer (EO) cured by iso-methyltetrahydrophthalic anhydride (iso-MTHPA), and EO-modified polysulfone (PSU) with active diluent furfuryl glycidyl ether (FGE) cured by iso-MTHPA. At the winding stage, the reinforcing film was placed in the middle layer of the CFRP.

Solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) for symmetrical supercapacitors are proposed herein with activated carbon as electrodes and optimized solid polymer electrolyte membranes, which serve as the separators and electrolytes. We propose the design of a low-cost solid polymer electrolyte consisting of guanidinium nitrate (GuN) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) with poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). Using the solution casting approach, blended polymer electrolytes with varying GuN weight percentage ratios of PVP and PEO are prepared.

As the demand for sustainable and innovative solutions in food packaging continues to grow, this study endeavors to introduce a comprehensive exploration of novel active materials. Specifically, we focus on characterizing polylactide-poly(ethylene glycol) (PLA/PEG) films filled with olive leaf extract (OLE; ) obtained via solvent evaporation. Examined properties include surface structure, thermal degradation and mechanical attributes, as well as antibacterial activity.

In this paper, we present a molecular dynamics study of the structural and dynamical properties of γ-valerolactone (GVL) both as a standalone solvent and in electrolyte formulations for electrochemistry applications. This study involves developing a new parameterization of a polarizable forcefield and applying it to simulate pure GVL and selected salt solutions. The forcefield was validated with experimental bulk data and quantum mechanical calculations, with excellent agreement obtained in both cases.

The behavior of low-carbon steels (LCSs), a high-strength steel and a nickel-chromium alloy in HCl solutions in the presence of N-containing organic substances has been studied. N-containing organic substances that comprise 1,2,4-triazole in their structure (substance I and substance II) provide comprehensive protection of various steel grades from corrosion and hydrogen absorption by the metal bulk in HCl solutions under both isobaric and isochoric conditions. All the compounds studied reduce, to varying degrees, the concentration of hydrogen adsorbed and absorbed by steel in HCl solutions.
