The chiral lattice structure of twisted bilayer graphene with D_{6} symmetry allows for intrinsic photogalvanic effects only at off-normal incidence, while additional extrinsic effects are known to be induced by a substrate or a gate potential. In this Letter, we first compute the intrinsic effects and show they reverse sign at the magic angle, revealing a band inversion at the Γ point. We next consider different extrinsic effects, showing how they can be used to track the strengths of the substrate coupling or electric displacement field.

Developing chiral plasmonic nanostructures represents a significant scientific challenge due to their multidisciplinary potential. Observations have revealed that the dichroic behavior of metal plasmons changes when chiral molecules are present in the system, offering promising applications in various fields such as nano-optics, asymmetric catalysis, polarization-sensitive photochemistry and molecular detection. In this study, we explored the synthesis of plasmonic gold nanoparticles and the role of cysteine in their chiroplasmonic properties.

C-C and C-X bond forming reactions are essential tools in organic synthesis, constantly revolutionizing human life. Among the key methods for constructing new chemical bonds are nucleophilic addition reactions involving imines. However, the inherent challenges in synthesizing and storing imines have stimulated interest in designing stable precursors, which generates imines in situ during the reaction.

Topolectrical space-time circuits.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Key Laboratory of advanced optoelectronic quantum architecture and measurements of Ministry of Education, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China.

Topolectrical circuits have emerged as a pivotal platform for realizing static topological states that are challenging to construct in other systems, facilitating the design of robust circuit devices. In addition to spatial dimensionality, synergistic engineering of both temporal and spatial degrees in circuit networks holds tremendous potential across diverse technologies, such as wireless communications, non-reciprocal electronics and dynamic signal controls with exotic space-time topology. However, the realization of space-time modulated circuit networks is still lacking due to the necessity for flexible modulation of node connections in both spatial and temporal domains.

Photoinduced Regiodivergent and Enantioselective Cross-Coupling of Glycine Derivatives with Hydrocarbon Feedstocks.

Regiodivergent asymmetric synthesis represents a transformative strategy for the efficient generation of structurally diverse chiral products from a single set of starting materials, significantly enriching their enantiomeric composition. However, the design of radical-mediated regiodivergent and enantioselective reactions that can accommodate a wide range of functional groups and substrates has posed significant challenges. The obstacles primarily lie in switching the regioselectivity and achieving high enantiodiscrimination, especially when dealing with high-energy intermediates.
