Cp(2)Sm(thf)(2) was found to be an efficient catalyst for the acylation of alcohols and amines with esters under mild conditions. In the present acylation, vinyl and isopropenyl acetates served as good acylating agents. Thus, a variety of alcohols and amines underwent acylation with vinyl and isopropenyl acetates in the presence of Cp(2)Sm(thf)(2) to give the corresponding esters and amides in good to excellent yields. This catalytic acylation of alcohols and amines offers an additional useful method by the use of various esters, instead of acid anhydrides and acid chlorides, as acylating agents under very mild conditions.

Choline is an essential nutrient for the biosynthesis of phospholipids and neurotransmitters and controls several physiological functions in mammals. It is metabolized in the organelles within cells, including mitochondria. However, its subcellular distribution and mode of mitochondrial transport remain poorly understood.

The study presents two imported malaria cases with a history of travel to malaria-endemic areas and replied late response to treatment. In the blood preparations of the first case, dot-shaped nucleus structures were identified in the erythrocytes, which looked different from the classical erythrocytic forms. In the SD-Pf/Pan test, bands were obtained for both P.

Hermetia illucens, with a short growth cycle, is promising as a valuable source of chitin. However, the optimal method for extracting chitin from this insect and its application for hemostasis has not been addressed. This work employed an environmentally friendly choline chloride-lactic acid deep eutectic solvent technology to extract chitin effectively from the Hermetia illucens pupae shells, realizing one-step removal of inorganic salts and proteins.

Intraocular pressure (IOP) plays a crucial role in glaucoma development, involving the dynamics of aqueous humor (AH). AH flows in from the ciliary body and exits through the trabecular meshwork (TM). IOP follows a circadian rhythm synchronized with the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN), the circadian pacemaker.

This study evaluated the effects of chemical modification, including ethanol, acetic acid, and natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES), on the secondary and tertiary structures, hydrophobicity, free amine content, protein-protein interactions, and functional properties of zein. The NADES used included choline chloride: oxalic acid, choline chloride: urea, choline chloride: glycerol, and glucose: citric acid. The results reveal that the NADES system significantly altered zein's structures, as evidenced by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, fluorescence, and Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy analysis.
